As a historical reference, we used Berthold Grotesk, a forgotten German sans serif. One could say it’s a distant relative of the well-known Futura, re-discovered and Cyrillized. Due to its long ascenders, this font has a warm and lively character — unlike most other geometric grotesques. The font has been reconstructed and then streamlined for modern use. The idea of variability and diversity of alternative forms was inspired by the Ukrainian font designer and artist Oleh Snarskyi’s (1923 – 2015) lettering albums from the 70-es.
